Joe Orton’s Brighton
An entertaining, risqué and informative tour of places and people linked to the infamous gay playwright, including the Theatre Royal and his agent, the legendary Peggy Ramsay.
Time Out: Historic Gay Pubs
A troll round of some of the town’s most historic lesbian and gay pubs, past and present, from the Quadrant to the Marlborough, and hear tales of the torrid time endured by the Brighton’s lesbian and gay community at the hands of ‘Lily Law’.
The Women of Woodvale & The Extra-Mural Cemetery
Featuring fascinating episodes from the lives of some of the remarkable women buried in Brighton’s ‘Victorian Valhalla’, including famous relatives of Virginia Woolf, Lewis Carroll & Vita Sackville-West.
North Laine Pubs and Breweries
Notable venues, events and personalities from this historic, pub-dense area.
Out, Loud and Proud
A tour featuring venues, events and personalities from Brighton’s long-standing gay history, including Oscar Wilde, Sussex GLF and Anne Lister.
‘Bloomsbury in Brighton’ – a companion tour to the ‘Radical Bloomsbury’ exhibition at Brighton Museum until October 9 2011. Dates to follow.
‘Clifton Montpelier Powis’ – learn about many of the area’s fascinating ‘unplaqued’ former residents, including Gilbert Harding, Francis King, Robin Maugham, Edward Le Bas and Dr Octavia Wilberforce. Dates to follow.
